On April 10, 2025 Maria and Jeffrey Kalban, founders of Unitied Neighbors Los Angetes, were guests on a special Catalysts Call. They discussed the impact of 3 newly introduced pieces of State legislation with large impacts on housing: SB-79 (Wiener), SB-677 (Wiener) and AB-647 (Gonzalez, Wicks) and how citizens can respond to oppose these bills.

On March 31, 2025 our guests were Chris Moore, a 2024 candidate for Alameda Board of Supervisors and Edward Escobar, an organizer who founded Coalition for Community Engagement and Citizens Unite Movement. Moore and Escobar shaped the campaigns that won the recall of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price and the recall of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao.

January 13, 2025
On January 13, 2025 Catalysts Institute hosted a discussion with Jeff and Maria Kalban, United Neighbors Los Angeles, about the status and the impacts of the Los Angeles wildfires. In particular the discussion centered around the upcoming problems of recovering and rebuilding the housling destroyed in the fires and the ramifications with regard to the State housing mandates and RHNA.
